When you’re a local business, that comes with a lot of responsibility. It’s important to support the people who have helped you over the years. That means helping your neighbors and those in need. FileShred recently had the opportunity to work with other local businesses for a good cause. And we couldn’t be happier. FileShred is proud to work closely with its community. Our latest event was able to benefit the people of our community and the environment as well.

The event was held together with the fine people at Farmington River Financial Group. The fourth annual Shred Day and Food Drive was held on September 16, 2017. The turnout was terrific. Community members, and their pets, came out support the hungry with their food donations. They also destroyed plenty of old documents. Proceeds and donations from the event went to the Farmington Food Pantry. We’re happy to say that the event was a resounding success. The event raised 102 pounds of food for those in need. Non-perishable, kid-friendly items were collected and will be distributed throughout the Farmington area.

Feeding the Hungry for More Than 30 Years

The Farmington Food Pantry has been helping to feed those in need for more than 30 years. The organization serves more than 200 families in the Farmington, CT area. In 2016 alone, they distributed more than 91,885 pounds of food. That made for an average distribution of 7,650 pounds of food every month. It continues to educate and empower our community to cope with hunger. The Food Pantry is doing incredible work in our community. We’re honored to be able to support them.

Saving the Environment, One Tree at a Time

For FileShred, document shredding is about much more than just destroying papers. It’s about protecting the data of businesses and people. We’re proud to have provided our mobile shredding service to the community. And it was all completely free of charge. The event was open to the public. Everyone pitched in, and we recycled a whopping 2,000 pounds of paper. That’s a literally a ton of paper. This equates to saving the lives of 17 trees. We believe that our community is much bigger than just our backyard. It’s the entire globe. That’s why we want to do everything we can to help our neighborhood, and the earth.

Our business is proud to have worked with this wonderful group. We are happy to give back to the less fortunate in our community. FileShred is already looking forward to next year.
